State of Wisconsin Supplier Diversity Programs
Programs Minority Business Program - The Minority Business Enterprise Program (MBE) was created to assist minority business firms effectively participate in the State of Wisconsin's competitve Procurement process. Enacted in 1983, Wisconsin's MBE law sets a five (5) percent MBE procurement goal for state agencies (including the University of Wisconsin campuses) and provides for a permissive five (5) percent price preference for certified minority firms that compete for State contracts. Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Program - In May of 2010 the Wisconsin State Legislature created the Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Program (DVB), 2009 Wisconsin Act 299. The Act amended the state's procurement guidelines to increase business opportunities for Program Certifications Women-Owned Businesses - The Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) Certification provides a State of Wisconsin validation of the ownership of business by a woman or women. State certified WBE’s are able to provide both governmental entities and private companies with a credible recognition of the business’ ownership. The WBE certification may serve as an additional marketing tool when seeking contract opportunities with entities that place a value on having a diverse supplier base. Disabled Veterans Certification Program - The Wisconsin Department of Administration certifies firms for eligibility to participate in the state's disabled veteran business bid preference program. Minority Buisness Certification Program - The purpose of the Minority Business Certification Program is to increase the opportunity for minority firms to sell their products and services to the State of Wisconsin. A certified minority business is eligible for a 5 percent bid preference on state purchases.
