The Division of Gaming's Office of Charitable Gaming is responsible for the licensing and regulation of bingo conducted by charitable organizations. It annually licenses approximately 800 bingo organizations, performs on-site operational inspections of bingo events and initiates compliance audits of charitable organizations conducting bingo.
Regarding the conduct of bingo, any religious, charitable, service, fraternal or veterans' organization or any organization, other than the state or any political subdivision of the state, to which contributions are deductible for federal income tax purposes or state income or franchise tax purposes may apply for a license. A license fee of $10.00 for each bingo occasion is assessed along with an annual license fee of $5.00. Organizations are also responsible for payment of an occupational fee of 1%-2% on gross receipts.
