The Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP) is dedicated to preserving and making accessible the natural and historic resources of Wisconsin's Great Lakes Coasts. For 30 years, the program has, from its home in the Department of Administration, worked cooperatively with state, federal, local and tribal government agencies and non-profit organizations in managing the ecological, economic and aesthetic assets of the Great Lakes and their coastal communities.
The WCMP is a voluntary state-federal partnership that works through a Governor-appointed Council to provide policy coordination among state agencies, and award federal funds to local governments and other entities for the implementation of coastal initiatives. Our goal is to achieve a balance between natural resource protection and coastal communities' need for sustainable economic development.
