The Bureau of Infrastructure Support - Operations designs, administers, promotes, and supports statewide enterprise data, voice, and video networks, and infrastructure services. Network services are provided utilizing a combination of both State owned equipment and vendor provided services through BadgerNet, ensuring the effective and efficient use of telecommunications technologies in support of Wisconsin government services and programs. Enterprise infrastructure services include the implementation and technical support of enterprise directories, email and enterprise middleware. The bureau is also responsible for the implementation and technical support of enterprise directories, departmental and enterprise email, and enterprise middleware. The Operations portion of the bureau consists of five sections.
The Lan/Wan/Video Section works with the BCN contract manager regarding planning and design activities related to both BadgerNet Data Services and to video services in support of distance education throughout the state. The section administers telecom/IT vendor contracts that provide various services to BadgerNet, and procures new services as required. The Data/Video section orders new circuit installs or moves, coordinates implementation activities with customers, and provides operational and technical support for BadgerNet data and video services. The section also provides local area network support for the department and for the DA-IT program. The team lead for the BCN Lan/Wan/Video group is Connie.bandt@wisconsin.gov.
The Enterprise Voice Services Section administers a number of voice related contracts, including long distance phone services, local Centrex services, voice processing, Telecommunications Relay System (TRS), and cellular phone services. The section also provides telecommunications consulting support to state agencies and the UW System on a broad range of telecommunications services and products.
