OCI regulates the business of insurance in Wisconsin. The office has a staff of 135 and is responsible for examining industry financial practices and market conduct, licensing agents, reviewing policy forms for compliance with state legislation, investigating consumer complaints and providing consumer information. In addition to its regulatory duties, the agency administers the State Life Insurance Fund, Local Government Property Insurance Fund and the Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund. Job Duties:
This position will serve as the agency’s Accountant ensuring compliance with federal and state accounting and financial reporting rules, regulations, and laws. This position will advise staff on all matters supporting fiscal management operations, purchasing, travel and general administrative service functions to include accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This position will independently prepare all agency financial reports using accounting, auditing, and financial reporting techniques to maintain a sound financial management program. In addition, this position will assist in budget development including the development and preparation of the biennial budget. This position will maintain various complex automated financial tracking systems for internal and external audits and general recordkeeping in order to analyze, create, update, implement and maintain internal operating procedures and official fiscal agency policies. This position with comply with reporting requirements and communicate issues with management. This position will act as liaison on fiscal management issues in the administrator’s absence.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Well qualified candidates will have the following; extensive knowledge and application of professional accounting and auditing theories, principles and standards, such as GAAP and GAAS, extensive knowledge of the relationship of program initiatives and budget requirements and the impact of their application, extensive knowledge of budget development and monitoring theories, extensive knowledge and demonstrated skillful analysis of statutory, administrative rules, and budgetary compliance. Candidates must possess strong communication skills in summarizing and presenting complex accounting and financial information verbally and in writing to groups with varying levels of accounting knowledge. And, candidates should possess strong personal computer skills including the ability to work with intermediate to advanced level worksheets in MS Excel, and develop queries and reports in MS Access. Well qualified candidates will have a degree from a four-year institution; majoring in accounting, finance, investment and banking, or related field and significant work experience.
