The IS Enterprise Technical Services Consultant/Administrator classification is assigned to Pay Schedule/Pay Range 07-02. The starting salary will be between $53,793-$98,434 annually depending upon qualifications and agency needs. A twelve-month probation will be required. The Department of Administration is hiring a technical leader to lead projects and daily operations that support multiple state agencies. This position, IS Enterprise Technical Services Consultant/Administrator, Team Lead Worker, is located in Madison, Wisconsin.

Job Duties:   

Under the direction of the Operating Systems/Hardware Support (OSHS) Section Chief, perform Team Lead Worker activities.  This leadership position responsibility includes leading implementation of new technology, leading projects, and leading highly skilled technicians in daily operations including installation, maintenance, and support of components to a complex multi-computer networked environment which supports over 25 state Agencies. This position also leads and coordinates the ongoing service delivery efforts of the section. This position provides high-level customer service and consulting on a broad array of services, and participates in or leads projects from genesis through implementation and completion. The incumbent will frequently represent the OSHS section on projects that require a strong understanding of customer service, good communication skills, and the ability to work within a team. The position also involves researching, implementing, using, and supporting new technologies.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Very well qualified candidates will have extensive experience providing day-to-day tactical direction and oversight to Windows, Linux/Unix, and Storage technical support teams within a large, virtualized Information Technology infrastructure environment supporting a very large enterprise. Any experience managing mainframe operations support would be beneficial. Well qualified candidates will have personal technical experience in the areas of storage management, Linux operating systems builds and support, Windows server builds and support, and virtualization technologies. Well qualified candidates will also have considerable experience with IT service management and customer service best practices; assigning, coordinating and assuring completion of assigned tasks; project management concepts; and establishing and maintaining operational policies, standards, and procedures. Candidates must have experience in leading people and technology. Candidates must also have the ability to focus and function on providing solid, timely information technology solutions to the business needs of a large enterprise, work well with people, coordinate communications, and advise and communicate with technical staff, management, and other entities’ regarding business requirements and solutions, technical activities, and project statuses.
