Chief ErwinA Message from the  Chief

Welcome to the Wisconsin Capitol Police Department website.  As your State Capitol Police Chief, it is my honor and privilege to serve the people of the State of Wisconsin.  I am committed to working with the men and women of the Department who protect and serve our citizens each day by making the Wisconsin State Capitol and state owned buildings a safe place to visit and work.  Our men and women of the Department serve not only as police officers but as ambassadors at the seat of Wisconsin's government.

The Wisconsin Capitol Police is responsible for providing police and security services to many state owned facilities. The mission of securing state facilities is a challenging endeavor.  The men and women of our Department take great pride in ensuring the safety and security of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Legislators, Supreme Court Justices, state employees, and members of the public who work in and visit these public buildings. The members of the Capitol Police not only patrol these facilities to maintain a safe environment, they also respond to calls to investigate criminal, domestic, traffic and parking related incidents that occur on and/or within the state properties and facilities they patrol. The Capitol Police also work in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Department of Justice and other County and local police departments to enforce laws.   By pooling our resources, forming new partnerships, and enhancing the collaborative efforts existing among key partners, we will further our primary mission to protect and serve the people of the State of Wisconsin.

Thank you for visiting the Wisconsin Capitol Police website.  I appreciate your interest in our Department and your support of the Wisconsin Capitol Police. The focus of this site is to ensure you have an exceptional customer service experience in seeking the information you need.   I invite you to visit the website to learn more about our work on behalf of Wisconsin citizens.  Please contact us if there is any matter with which we may assist you.

Respectfully,

David M. Erwin
