The Division of Hearings and Appeals conducts quasi-judicial hearings for several state agencies. It must decide contested administrative proceedings for the Department of Natural Resources, cases arising under the Department of Justice's Crime Victim Compensation Program and appeals related to actions of the Department of Health and Family Services. It also hears appeals from the Department of Transportation, including those related to motor vehicle dealer licenses, highway signs, motor carrier regulation and disputes arising between motor vehicle dealers and manufacturers. The division's corrections unit conducts hearings for the Department of Corrections on adult probation and parole revocation and juvenile aftercare supervision. Division hearing examiners also preside over contested cases for the Division of Economic Support in the Department of Workforce Development, the Department of Public Instruction, and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program of the Department of Administration.
