Division of Capitol Police


Deputy Chief Daniel Blackdeer began his law enforcement career with the Wisconsin Capitol when hired as a police officer in August of 1990. He was promoted in July of 1997 to Sergeant. During his time at Sergeant, he ended up supervising 1st shift patrol, 2nd shift patrol and the Dignitary unit. As a Sergeant he was an instructor in the following areas; Firearms, Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT), Police bicycle instructor and Field Training Officer.  He attended Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command in 2004.  In December of 2005 he was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Wisconsin Capitol Police. He is member of the Dane County Chiefs of Police Association (DCCOPA), Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association (WCPA) and International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He is current Chair of the Capitol Police Section of the IACP and Past President of the Dane County Chiefs.
