The Capitol Police Department advises all state employees who come in contact with letters or packages that contain suspicious substances to take the following steps:

  • Remain calm. Do not panic.
  • Put the letter down and leave it undisturbed.
  • Inform others in the area that you have a suspicious substance.
  • Call Capitol Police 266-7161
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and then wash your face thoroughly.
  • Wait for the police to arrive and follow their instructions.
